Microsoft Solutions Community Day
On 10 December 2015 we had another edition of our Microsoft Solutions Community Day (MSSCD). The event sought to bring something different to the table. All members of our internal Microsoft team (from Cluj, Sibiu, Craiova and Brasov) were invited to Sun Garden for a full day of techie fun. The norm was a cool and relaxing atmosphere in which colleagues could get to know each other better and take part in interesting discussions.
The 100 participants were divided into four different teams: the Red team, the Blue team, the Yellow team and the Green team. Why this distribution, you ask? Well, it didn’t have anything to do with being fond of a certain colour, but rather having a very “colourful” & creative Microsoft department. Each team was put together so as to include colleagues from different locations, working on different projects and even having different names (just imagine a team made up solely of Michaels or Johns and you’ll understand what we’re talking about). The main purpose was to get everyone to network, meet people they haven’t met before, share experiences & expertise and just have a good time doing it.
The MSSCD agenda contained a mix of organisational & technical presentations combined with entertaining & relaxing activities. One after the other, the four “coloured” teams took part in the four main presentations prepared for them: an overview of the department’s activity, two tech talks and a cool discussion on what makes a programmer cool. At the end of the day, everyone had dinner together and spent some team quality time.
As you can see from the pictures below, our Microsoft colleagues had a blast:
After the event, we collected some anonymous feedback. Here is what some colleagues shared with us:
“The MSSCD setup was balanced and combined knowledge sharing with socialising in a very relaxed environment.”
“This was my first time taking part in this event and I really enjoyed it. I have always been keen on knowing what interesting projects the company develops and what they imply. The schedule was very well structured and the atmosphere during the presentations was nice and relaxed. I will definitely take part in the following events of this type.”
“I liked the technical presentations at the MSSDC. The way our colleagues laid out the encountered problems and their solutions captured my attention during the entire presentation.”
“I was impressed by the fact that a MSSCD has been organized, as I am new in the company. In my opinion it shows respect towards the employees and it made me feel more connected to everyone from work. The day was interesting, the organisation was very good and I liked the way in which the events unfolded.”
As you can see, we enjoyed our Microsoft Solutions Community Day and we are looking forward to the next one. Stay tuned for future articles! 😀
